    Hi all!

This piece was used for the airbrushing demo I did in the summer.

I've spent a fair bit of time on this and I'm especially pleased with the effect of the beard.

I did the eyes twice as the first time there was a distinct outward turn to them LOL

    ;)

Progress so far, the blues need a bit more matting down :/

Thanks everyone for the comments :)

As is so often the case ( for me ) this has kinda got my attention and I'm
gonna motor through and finish it I think.
The relatively simple design of this piece is a big encouragement too!

After much mulling over about the scarf I chose to do it in a dull ish red
with a thin yellow line to add a touch of interest..

    Based with Burnt Umber.
    Mid Red
High Blood Red ( Citadel )
Final High Fiery Orange ( Citadel )

As always colour depth was built up with many thin layers..

The yellow detail was spaced by the length of my brush ( just the bristles obviously ;) )

    Base was Yellow Ochre
High base with Light Flesh added as required.

Next I did the life jacket..

Based with Burnt Umber again ( I do like it! )
    I mixed a base colour..
Base German Camo Orange Ochre and German Camo Pale Brown at 1:3
High was The base plus Light Flesh
Final High Light Flesh with a dab of the Highlight colour

I blocked the leathers in with German Grey to check the tonal balance, seems okay to my eye :)

    Yes, excellent stuff!

Painting has to be really good on this one to detract from the sculpt - eyes are slanted one way while the mouth goes the opposite.

    regards,
    Jack

    Hey Mark,
    Happy new year.
I've been wondering where you have gotten to.
Again you have produced a brilliant piece.

Pity you don't paint in oils. o_O :notworthy:

    Thanks again all!

    :)

Managed to get some time on the leathers, I think I'll do a bit more on the collar area...

    Base German Grey.
    Mid Neutral Grey
    High White
Shader Black Ink ( Citadel )

All applied well thinned and the ink was only added to the very deepest creases.
