After painting several busts I have returned to try painting a figure again. I figured out that I like doing ground work as it creates more of a scene for the finished work. Let me know what you think good or bad.

Dimitrios; I used acrylic undercoat and finished in oils. I used a metal colored ink stamp for the metal areas.

Michael; Thank you again. I encourage you to keep the oil and keep me honest, your critiques always help me improve. You are an obvious student of the art and probably know more about it than I do. Now you need to finish up one of those young bust and let me return the favor

Guy; I am glad you like the ground work. There is a friend of mine in OKC (master cato) that is awesome at ground work and I try to immulate what he does. So tell him the check is in the mail next time you see him.

Thanks again fella's I really appreciate it. Next on the table is a U-Boat captain by warriors. It will be my first 120mm figure and I am excited about painting him.

Stevens my man, the golf game hasn't suffered much yet there hasn't been that good of days to play so far. I lost my butt on Friday though and wish I could blame it on the wind but I can't it was just bad playing. I'm glad you liked the figure. I have one on order that you will really like, it is a Dragoon which will be my first of that era. I know you like that time frame so I'll try and do it justice once I get started on it. Probably a winter project.

Excellent mike..love this figure tell me please about tree stump real or resin ...and what do u use for. Ground build up..thanks jimmy

This is an old school piece as far as my stuff goes. But this guy I used paper clay for the ground build up and the stump is a real piece of wood from my backyard. Now I use two part for the basework but would still use a real piece of wood. Thanks for checking this guy out, he is still one of my favorite pieces I have ever done.
