Hi planeteers happy holidays to everyone on the forum .
I need some help to find information about the uniforms from old steam locomotive drivers in the far west .
I have browsed the web and didn't find any .
As far as I can remember . They had somekind of striped hat .

Marc - Try Google image searching: "Casey Jones" or "locomotive engineer+1900" or whatever year you want. I came up with some useful images. I work for Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Nebraska and have ridden with dozens of conductor and engineer crews. Nowadays they don't wear that cap. If they wear a hat at all, most of them wear a baseball cap. In the past, grey striped caps like the one you're talking about were worn so you're headed the right direction. They sometimes had the railroad emblem embroidered or sewn on as a patch or pinned on as a metal badge. Good luck!

    All the best,
    Dan

Thanks Dan . I found some usefull material . I'm having an idea of scratchbuilding an engeneer looking through his window and leaning out with his arm .I would date it around the wild west periode . I found an old image from the B&W TV series Casey Jones .
For the moment its just an idea.

And not a bad one...late 1950s TV was pretty formative for me. I remember the TV series Casey Jones. Good luck!

    All the best,
    Dan
