Still don't have a title for this vignette of a night-time wet weather trench raid of the 2/6 KLR, but it is completed. For the photos I had to use red-brown putty to hold one of the figures in the right place. Sorry about that - don't like showing it, but since I can't glue the figures in...

This is a commission which is planned as a present to a figure painter. It commemorates Rifleman Donaldson and Rifleman Smith helping their severely wounded officer, Lieutenant Profit, out of No Man's Land to safety.

1/16th scale, the heads and various bits are from kits and the rest was made using Magic Sculpt and Kneadatite.

    Hope you like it!

    All the best,
    Dan

FYI - For the standing water and wet look on ground work I used a simple acrylic water product made for model railroaders by a company in Missouri, "Realistic Water". Pretty good stuff and very easy to use. I tried a two part acrylic mix called "Magic Water" also. It gave good results, but was a bit of a pain in the @##.

    All the best,

Dan. The water looks realistic but I paint first the ground before I try to make a realistic water on it. I have try several things, but are not really satisfied. I am a little astonished seeing one of the soldiers wearing so many ammunition packs before his breast. I know that german soldiers have a different kind to take more ammunition with them

Ulrich - Yes I painted the groundwork before applying the water. I didn't apply the pumice paste at the bottom of the "ponds" because it would not be seen. The groundwork is thoroughly painted to try to look like greyish gluey clay soil found in Belgium. Some of the pumice paste doesn't look as effective as I'd like - given the rain that was supposed to be falling at the time of the actual event. The ammunition pack you refer to is a British grenade vest. See attached reference. These came in different versions - I've made the one with six grenade pouches on top and five on bottom.

    All the best,
    Dan
