"Thomas Art Bases are all individually hand made and finished by Ken Thomas. Only the finest rosewoods, burls and other figured woods are used.

Turned bases are finished in a high quality sealed and polished finish. A final coat of wax is applied as protection.

Burl bases are all hand dyed, buffed and polished to a satin gloss finish. A coat of high quality wax is applied as a protection.

Textured bases and the pads for pedestal bases are finished in a hand textured simulated black granite.

Since I am a one person shop custom work is only done on a limited basis.

I have been making bases for many years and many top artists have been long term customers here in the USA."

Quite simply the best bases money can buy. I have used them for years and still have quite a collection. You never know what he will come up with and he has an artists eye for what we need. Not many people know it but he is a recognized bird carver with a ton of talent and a heck of a nice guy. Please give him your business.

I use these superb bases too, for many years now, and I want no other : simply the best, second to none, best quality in the world.

And yes, a very nice guy, a very kind person.

    100% recommended.

Ken's bases are the biggest investment I make at shows. It was a shame he wasn't at MMSI but he will be at MFCA. I have done mail order with Ken and shopped with him at the shows since 2005. A great guy to deal with and a heck of an eye for detail.
A figure is always set off with that something extra on a Ken Thomas base.

Agree with what's already been said about the quality - the finish on Ken's bases is as good as it gets.

They're not cheap, but worth it if primo quality is desired.

I believe that I asked this question recently and was told that he is not. You could always send him an email (above) to be certain.

According to his reply to us two years ago about attending our show (MFCA) as a vendor, he was closing down, for reasons of health. As far as I know, he has not started up again. If you do contact Ken, please reply back here and let everyone know what you find.

    Prost!

This is what a call bases, at least for me when you have used countless hours on your bust or whatever you want on a base. I think the base should reflect the work that have been layed down. And of course my wife think its alot nicer to have it on display then....hehe:happy:
