This is a 150 MM resin figure sculpted by my good friend Paul Keefe for the defunct Fort Duquesne. Paul gave me a copy a few years ago.
Haven't painted many Sci- Fi figures, thought I'd give this one a try.

Nice work Roc. Paul would approve. We both know that Paul is one of the finest unknown sculptors in our field. Remember the large scale Woodland Indians he did for the recently deceased, sorely missed and well beloved Bob Knee? Bob had great shots of them in HM and gave Paul a small footnote at the end of the article......

Oh, this is a great subject. I like figures like this. Not to mutch fantasy but enough sci-fi for me. The figure join to a storry or film or it's an only one piece in the sci-fi galactic?

Painting metallics on resin:
1- After priming the figure, I give the metal areas a couple of coats of acrylic black.
2- I apply a mixture of Gunze Sangyo 50% iron and 50% aluminum, apply with a
smooth brush.
3- when completely dry, brush on a coat of black oil paint, and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
4- wipe of the excess black oil paint with a soft tissue or cloth.
5- when that is dry, start delineating with a size 00 brush using black.
6- high light with luco silver powder.

Paul never copied, Roc. He made an initial Space Born that he still has ( seen it a couple weeks ago ) and revamped the idea for the Ft-Du project. It was Ft-Du's biggest seller.
He was originally inspired to do some large scale figures based on Warhammer ( I have one )
but never offered them in the market.

...a fun exercise. Very nicely turned out. And you Brushed on the mettallics!!!!

Id reach for my airbrush, or run and hide (at my current level) before brushing on metals on that amount of coverage.

I do like the figure. Realistic, and a what could be dimensions, rather then a super human colosus with a tiny wee head (Think, games work shop). it hangs together far better then a large version of a GW figure.

John, I know Paul would never copy, everything paul sculpts including his beautiful shadow boxes are his original ideas.
We can agree that Paul is one of the most talented sculptors in our hobby.
I'm surprised they never made him a MFCA grand master.
