With being out of town for work a lot lately it's been hard to get around to posting anything new, though I've stayed busy. Some wedding cake figures and a WWII Pacific Marine for my good friend Steve have been finished and this is my latest. It's Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hollow. Tried to compose it so you can always see the Horseman stalking Ichabod, though Ichabod doesn't see him. Will be doing the Horseman in the uniform of the Hessian Jägers, green coat with red facings and off-white breeches.

Got the head for Ichabod painted already (have been itching to paint). Tried to go for a pale, almost sickly and gaunt Ichabod, terrified of the Hessian stalking him in the woods. Anyway guys, hope you like how it's coming along. More soon. Cheers, Stephen

Gents, thanks much for the kind words. This project has been a ton of fun so far and I'm glad y'all like it.

Thanks Ed. The palette is pretty simple actually, and it's similar to what Ernesto Reyes and Jaume Ortiz use. Base of Brown Sand, with more and more Basic Skintone added to build up the highlights. Shadows with base and Burnt Cadmium Red, plus a bit of Reaper Red Brick and Vallejo's Black added for the darkest shadows. Some glazes of Cavalry Brown were added to the cheeks and jaw, plus some 90/10 mixes of water and the base color/Yellow Ochre for some tinting of the face on the lowest highlights to give a slightly pale/sick look to Ichabod. Five o'clock shadow with black and base + Basic Skintone. After all that is done, some extremely thinned down glazes of violet and Salmon Rose were added here and there to give different color variations. Hopefully all of that makes sense.

Many thanks guys, always humbling that the stuff I work on in a little apartment in Austin, Texas is received so well in so many places.

Thanks Matthew, that's awfully nice of you to say. Hope this one lives up to expectations.

Progress on Ichabod. I have the majority of the trousers sculpted; getting a skinny look for this guy has been a challenge but it's getting there, definitely different sculpting late colonial-era clothing than anything else I've done thus far. Hopefully it's on the right track. More soon. Cheers, Stephen
