Samurai - 3/4 finished

    Hi Again - here is a progress pic of my Samurai.
    It is about 3/4 finished. It is only temporarily put together on it's base - I'd hate to paint it as an assembled model.
    Hopefully I can show you the finished thing on my bench soon!

    Looks good, Mr. Carpenter. How did you paint the orange sleeve (base mix, highlights, shadows, etc.)?

    Hi there - the orange is made up of cadmium red medium and cadmium yellow.
    Highlights are simply the same with more of the yellow and a little titanium white.
    I use Scarlet lake as the first shadow and then added cadmium red deep mixed in for the deeper shadows. The darkest shadows are achieved with a glaze of straight sepia.
    All paints are Winsor and Newton fast drying oils.
