This is my latest WIP sculpt. I've still to add the Epaulettes , buttons and even more medals to finish her.
Lt Natalya Meklin was a Russian female pilot of the 46th Taman Guards Night Bomber Regiment, nicknamed by the Germans the "Night Witches ". She was the standard bearer of the Regiment and flew 982 night missions.

    All comments and critique welcome.
    Cheers Ken

Having seen this little lady in the putty. I can say this is Ken's best sculpt to date. Hopefully she will go commercial as well.

    Totally cool Ken!

Did you use photo etch for those medals, or is it a total putty party?

    Cheers,
    Jon.

Many thanks guys for the comments,

Mike and Michael you're both right she's definately hot.

    Carl, cheers mate.

    Pedro, always appreciate your comments.

Jon, would prefer using photo-etched medals but couldn't find any for a 200mm bust, so did my best using putty. :( Unless you know of any. ;) Cheers mate appreciate the comment.

    Jay, much appreciated.

982 night missions!!! My god she earned every one of those medals. What a brave woman.

Your sculpting has improved out-of-sight in recent years Ken. This is one of your best.

Hi Ken, I'm going to suggest a few things which are some pretty major revisions but I think they'll make a world of difference.

The head seems to perch a bit, for a couple of reasons. First reason is a common sculpting error, the positioning of the head a little too centrally - you have it right on top of the torso; when you drop it down towards the front a bit it makes for a different collar angle, which as you can see would more closely match the photo:

I think the neck is a tad long too. This is just done quick and dirty and I may have shortened the neck a bit much but here's how it might look from the front with both tweaks done:

On the tunic, your folds are very nicely sculpted but it looks like too light a weight of fabric, like a shirt. A thicker fabric, as I think we're seeing in the photo, has slightly 'rounder' folds, and a few less of them too.

Tom , cheers matey I knew she'll be right up your street, and Russian to boot.:)
Dan, glad you like her , many thanks.(y)

    Andy, much appreciated.

Tony, thanks matey, yep 982 missions flown in a wooden fabric covered Polikarpov U-2Po-2 called the" Mule" and seved as a biplane trainer, transport and crop duster. Picture shown of a captured "Mule". They would carry one 250kg bomb or two 100kg bombs under each wing and were able to attack from a silent glide with the engine turned off. Amazing.

Einion, many thanks for taking the time to comment and post pics . My initial reaction was that the problem was a camera distortion as the 1st set of pics show her from 2 entirely different angles, however looking at the changes between the 2 photo's in the 2nd set I can see your point. Luckily her head is seperate and just slots into her neck, so, I'll be able to shorten that slightly. In regard to the adjustment to the neck I'm a little reluctant to do anything at this stage as I've yet to add the Epaulettes which will raise her shoulders and may adjust the look. Will work on it and post update pics.
    Cheer Ken
