    Hi All,

After several years without painitng any figure I have finished this figure of the Marshal Erich von Manstein.

The painting is far away to be considered good, but... let's progress and improve skills :)

    Hope you like it.

    Thanks and Regards,

That actually looks pretty good, and I suspect that the photos don't do it proper justice. The insignia, braiding etc. all looks nice & neat and the face is nicely done (looks best in the second photo).

Maybe look to push the shading and highlights a little more on the uniform on your next figure/bust. It also has a slight glossy sheen to it. Did you use oil paints? If so, it could be that they haven't had time to matt down properly yet. You could always add a coat of good-quality matt varnish once the paint is fully dry (assuming that the glossiness remains).

    Hi Steve,
Many thanks for your comments, which make me aware of my mistakes. This is the way to improve :)

Photos were done with my cell, and yes, they are horrible...

Indeed, I was not aggressive enough with lights and shadows, next figure I will try to incise there. I have used acrylics, mainly, Vallejo, and Tamiya X21 flat base, possibly not enough. As per your suggestion, since the figure is not definitively put on the base, I will apply an ultramatt barnish coat.

    Thanks again and Regards

Don't be too hard on yourself as this looks fine to me and the insignia and Field Grey uniform colours look exactly right to me.

    Welcome back Arturo!

    Hi Arturo

Apologies for not posting ....all credit to you , it's all about enjoying and learning with every brushstroke

Really good advice from Steve and others

Your obviously happy to listen which is great ....PF is for all levels ...indeed we have a monthly fun comp for all levels of modellers ..called Figure of the Month ( FOTM ) ....classes go from Standard , intermediate and advanced

My advice is to keep the early pieces then as you paint more you will see your progression

    Look forward to the next

    Happy benchtime

    Hi Nap,

Thanks for your words and advice. indeed, my mates told me the same, keep the figure as it is and compare it with the next in the following months, and will appreciate your progress and the mistakes you made in the first one, and will be able to correct. That's a great advice, in my opinion, so I have started a new one and am keeping an eye on the details I missed with this first bust.

    Greetings from Spain
