    Hey Fellas!

One day to go until Tulsa and I am keeping busy! Only painted the scarf and the belts so far. The buff was a bitch to paint, it took almost twice as long to paint then the face did. It took so many layers to get it the way I wanted it to look, the picture don't quite show the contrast that is really there. Its painted with very, very dilluted paint so its probably got about 30 layers. I think I will do it a different way the next time!

I'll post some more inprogess pics in this thread as I go along.

    Thanks Leigh :)

Here is the red coat started. First I will show you the palette I am using. For the red a simple mix of Cavalry Brown + Cadmium Red was used. The highlights are the same mix with more and more Cad. Red mixed in and the final two highlights are base + Light Sand, although I am sure that I will add a couple more highlights then shown on the palette, the shadows are base with more Cav. Brown and last shadow is base shadow + tad of black. The base color is the third one on the left in the pic.

And the final base coat, I painted 4 layers of maybe 1 part paint to 3 parts water then I added 2 more layers roughly 1 part paint to 5 parts water to smooth things out.

    More to come!

    Hey Anders,
It's looking good already. I see you are good with acryl. You diluted the paint much. When i do that i get a blob off colored water on my figure. How do you manage that.

I like to see more pictures off the following processes

    Thanks Gary and Marc!

    Marc,

I have had this happen too, thats when you don't have enough paint pigment in your water mix, or when the paint isnt mixed together well on the palette. just make sure you 'stir' the mix everynow and then to keep the paint from settling on the bottom.

Here are the reds finished, but I am not totally happy with them, so I will probably go back and work on it a little more. It just don't have and zing to it, and looks boring. I am really bad at painting reds so maybe this is as good as I can get it but I'll try something.

    Anders,

I think the red is well done. Perhaps you can use extra dark shadows in some places (armpit) and also select another places for a extra light. What do you think?

    Hey Rafa!

Thanks for the suggestion, that is what I decided to do. The pictures are really bad, I really saw this after I got back to the bench. The reds are a lot lighter and more contrast in 'the flesh'. I will have to work on the photography as well as my red painting skill!

    Anders,

It is looking really nice. I understand about pictures. I look forward to seeing it in person.
