I am working on the bust and still have to finish painting the scarf and some touch up.. I have a question for someone out there?. I used printers inks on the tiles and helmet, this is my first use of the inks.( I like these inks it gave this piece a nice finishing touch) When I finish the bust I plan to spray it with a coat of Testors dul-coat. Is the dul-coat going to change the look of the tiles on the bust? or does the dul-coat react to the printer ink any differently than other acrylic paints Vallego,masters or andrea?

If you use Dull-coat you gonna loose the shine of the gold. Is that what you want.

Mike I wouldnt use Dul-Coat over the bust, certainly not the printers inks. Just dont know what the result could be.
Could you do a test piece on a piece of scrap using the same colours and inks. After its dry spray the test piece and leave it for a few days just to see what happens. If it works OK then spray the bust but remember to let us know.

loks really good. Why do you want to put dul-coat on it? It doesn't appear too shiny and it shouldn't need protection (unless you're planning on using it for gaming)

The dullcoat will most certainly effect the inks. My recommendation is to use either the brush on dullcoat or any clear acrylic flat finish in a bottle and simply brush light coats over the items that need to be dead flat (scarf is all I see that you would make more matte if too shiny). All the metals should retain a shine and the skin tones need the sheen that oils impart.

As I said in my e-mail, that is a great job. Every piece you do gets better and better in leaps and bounds.

How, thanks Marc I don't want to loose the gold shine . I may have to find a way to coat just the parts that don't have printer ink on them. ?

Sure am glad I asked thanks for steering me in the right direction. I have alway's sprayed the piece when I finish, because someone told me to. I am new at this so I thought it was a good idea.? May I can re-think that one. :thumb down: I will try to find some brush on dul-coat for the scarf, if it needs it. Better get back to painting before my wife finds me something to do.

Don't spray it with dullcoat Mike as you'll lose the mettallic effect you've achieved.Like you paint job a lot.

I finished this one ,the tiles were touched 20-30 times with the brush ugh!. I am happy with it.
