Finally back online! Finally painting again!

The typical characteristics of a real Zaporozhian Cossack was his hairstyle: An otherwise completely shaven skull with each vertex-Locke, a most powerful mustache ..

    According to my template ...

... the hair as well as the mustache is gray - the eyebrows will be black .

I've just made the skull Locke and beard - with these colors ...:

And so it looks like now ...:

Looking great Martin(y) ! You really like that Extra Dark Green  in your mix. I tried it and like the results. I reckon I'll be reaching for it a little more often now!

Interesting, I'm guessing extra dark green has the effect of darkening, but not as strongly as a shade of black would?

Yes, but more subtile as "Chocolate Brown" for instance...

The eyebrows of my Ataman I paint like my template::
They are black and brown - with a tiny tick to gray.

In addition I have taken these colors - where "Chocolate Brown" and "Light Flesh" give exactly the gray-tone that I wanted.

And now the painting of the head and face is finished!

With the neck it will go on...

    42. Day, 14. December 2012

Today, the front part of the neck is it!

The deep places I have painted as dark as possible (again with "Saddle Brown" and "Dark Green") ...

... to underscore the desired impression of a lean, sinewy man. The other parts are only moderately lighted, because the chin takes away the light from above.

More lighter I paint only on the neck and upper chest, these sites are no longer in the shadow of so slightly turned head. The light corresponds to the light on the chin, which makes the whole thing, in my opinion, quite realistic.

    Voia ...:

    43. Day, 17. December 2012

Today I have painted the first side of the neck - and due to the rotation of the head it is slightly darker.

I want not to hide the annoying modeling error on the neck muscle, which I had not previously noticed, and that I cannot quite "paint away".

For this place is by the upturned collar of the caftan later hardly be visible, I leave it that way. To resculpt it, it is already too late ...:

    It keeps getting better Martin.

Best of all I think is the way you show all the flaws and mistakes along the way. It goes to demonstrate how difficult such a project really is.
Great stuff and thanks for sharing it all.

I agree with Helm, I've had that happen on a build, and realized that disaster awaited, if I went back to fix it.
