Still got a lot of ground work and the rifle to do. German Sentry, Western Front 1917 001.JPG

Besides being a great piece of painting that Jon Smith can't half sculpt, just look at the folds in those trousers and the back of the boots!

PS Like the addition of the phrase "away from imminent danger" Lol a wise precaution. ;)

Very nice David! Subtle shading and light tones overall. I quite like it so far, lookingforward to seeing the groundwork completed.

    Carl,
the water is solid as part of a plaster-casting that forms the broken trench section. I'm painting it dark green with a 'wet' finish! Hopefully done by Monday.........or sooner.

Pics are a bit 'washed out'

I like the way Jon sculpts the tunics, they are usually ill fitting with filled pockets.
David's painting is inspiring. it a shame its not 54mm though

Great figure from Jon as usual and I have nearly all of his 120 mm figures. And, David, I admire your style to paint his figures.
I am just wondering why he is wearing in such a situation the heavy trench armour. I always thought that they wear that kind of armour only at the front

German Sentry, Western Front 1917 006.JPG German Sentry, Western Front 1917 012.JPG All finished. The rifle sling is not affixed as it was sometimes absent, although Jon may make one for the kit.

Ulrich, I think this guy is coming on duty although still relaxed before putting on the reinforced helmet.
