Drummer -progress

    John and all thanks for the comments.My approach to reds , especially if they are the vibrant type , like in this occasion , is to start with a rather dark mix. Then you work your way up the highlights. In fact I do more h/L than shadows on reds with the dilutions being rather higher than usual. The mix for this one is the following. I started with abase of AC13 + a touch of AC38 + a touch of black. As you notice you have a rather dark mix because even the AC13 on it's own is medium to dark in shade. First H/L are with base + AV909. Another H/L is AV909 on its own.For the extreme highlights I add a little AC9 flesh to the 2nd H/L. You have to be carefull with this one since if you overdo it you end up with a faded look to the uniform. Not the case with this one being such a flamboyant type.Shadows are added with a touch of Ac38 + a touch of black to the base colour. Deep shadows are a very diluted wash in pure black . I hope this gives you a good idea of my approach to this rather complicated colour.

    Guy, thanks. I have to finish this diorama before doing anything else. I have to take it with me to Boston since it's a commisioned piece so I don't want to leave it to the last minute.Next figure - musician of the 17th light.All yellow and blue !!!!
