    Or at least I think so. I am still thinking of including one last figure representing a clansman who has just been hit and is falling backwards. There's not much room left on the base, but he could squeeze in behind this group.

    Thanks to all those who were generous with their suggestions on the second figure, with the targ (shield). I did thicken up his arm and added some more putty to the leg prior to painting, and I think your ideas were spot on.

    So feel free to weigh in on this effort. It's really the first time I've ever really finished something scratchbuilt, and I'd have to admit it is rather addictive! I am swearing off highlanders for a while now. Enough tartan!! And I do apologize for the poor quality of the photos. I was never very good at photography to begin with and without my set up from home, I am even worse. Hope you can get a sense for the work with these pictures.

    Cheers everyone;

    Thank you Costas, it is very gratifying for me that you enjoy the work, as I have often been inspired by your own vignettes.

    Glenn,
    A superb piece of work in every respect - sculpting and painting. The composition really captures the rush of movement. If this is your first scratchbuilt project its stunning. Looking forward to seeing your next project, please post on PF.
    I dont think you need the fourth figure bye the way and I sort of think a falling wounded figure may even detract from the charge you have created.
    cheers Mat

    awesome work, I have to agree about a fourth figure that it may detract from some of the drama. But then again if you want to go for it, it may end up being just what it needed.

    Again truly an awesome piece.

    Hi Glenn,

    Outstanding work mate. Sculpting and painting is to a very high standard and the overall composition is well thought out. A wonderful tribute to those crazy brave Jocks.

    Thanks everyone for all the kind words of encouragement and for your suggestions. I'm very happy you all like it so much. I hope everyone here remembers the role the Planet played in this project. If it wasn't for the excellent SBS's posted regularly here, I don't think I would have even tried my hand at sculpting to begin with. So a big thanks to planetFigure for providing the inspiration!

    Thanks Karsten, Eddy, Brian, Rob, and Marc. I can promise that I will keep on practicing and hopefully have more to show for my efforts. Hi Jose, I did think of adding a dying Jacobite, he'd be falling over having just been hit in the head by a musket ball. I'll finish sculpting him and see how his addition affects the overall composition.

    (y)Very nice Glenn! How did you paint the fine lines on the tartan? Could you tell me where you got the ground cover from? Is it moss you picked there in Scotland that we can't get here in Alberta? You may want to pick some and preserve it in glycerene so when you get back here you'll have a nice stash to go to when you need it. I'm green with jelousy!
