Cavalry - Saddle and Equipment

    The Belgian cavalry used a few unique items as part of their horse equipment. Photos and Illustrations came from the late Roger DeBoeck.

    Horse equipment details to go with the first picture.

    1. saddle - left side of the horse: maintenance material horse; stable trousers & right side: scarf; gloves; shoes; trousers; weapon; shears; and towel
    2. valise or ‘porte manteau’
    3. sword holder
    4. knapsack (left side of the horse: 1kg oats; police force bonnet; horse brush; & right side: food bag food, drinking cup, eating utensils.
