Brian, superb painting on the FeR miniature, I was a bit uninspired when I saw this on their website, you have brought him to life.
The Border Reiver is going to be something else, the face is looking great.

I’d say you topped the box art version...the tired and resigned to fate look comes through very well..

The drab colours on Captain Alatriste have been tastefully applied and really set the scene, I can appreciate that you started off with a vision of how you wanted him to look and then mixing the colours and working the shadows and highlights onto the figure takes some incredible skill, I am a big fan of your work and have learnt a lot lot from following your projects and others on PF so I am eagerly waiting on your progress with the Border Reiver.

Looking brilliant. Loving Alatriste but also the face of the Border Reiver is something else ;)

May I ask what colours do you use for your skin?

Can't wait for more updates though. :)

I can't remember exactly what i used for the flesh tones ,as i never take notes, but it would have been Titanium white,Warm Sepia ,Alazarine Crimson and a touch of Cobalt Blue.I don't have a formula ,as such,as i tend to just wing it and see what comes up.
The main thing i'll always do is go over the face, using a wet on dry technique, enhancing the highlights and shading.I can do this as many as 3 times,as i paint with oils ,i store the original flesh mix in the freezer,so that it won't go off.I always try to keep my flesh mix as simple as possible.
