Yes, just finished this this evening, a Carolean limber to my previously made 3pdr regiment piece.

I did paint both cannon and limber in the true blue/yellow painting it should have from this period. First picture shows another cannon from the same period, in this case a howitzer, taken this summer 2019 when my wife and I visited the swedish Artillery museum in Kristianstad, south of Sweden.

All cannons and wagons are drawn from the original 1716 Möllerheim drawings, which I got from the Swedish Army museum in Stockholm, complemented with my own measures from the Artillery museum. So they should be pretty accurate ..

Note that these are only prototypes, both figures and vehicles is printed on my Dremel 3D40 a filament printer. To give them justice a resin printer or print from ShapeWays is needed.

A lot more work on the figures remains to be done, but I am learning - and having great fun doing so!

    Thanks Keith,

I did find a new material at shapeways which is almost as good as FUD but not at all as brittle. I am working on a 54mm (1:29) scale drawing now which i will upload and order a print from. I will show you a picture when it arrives.

    = Mil - Shapeways Gray PA12 =

Prepared a 54mm (1:32) scale version of the Carolean 3-pdr cannon a while ago, including uploading to Shapeways. Doing so I noticed they added a new material called "Gray PA12" which was supposed to be like FUD but not so brittle. At least I was hoping soo.. I ordered a copy which arrived today, but as you can see it is more like a very expensive WSF material... Yes, not so brittle, but even worse surface then WSF. Sad, it "could" have been a nice development..

Shapeways changed name of there materials several times, very confusing. WSF is today called "White Natural Versatile Plastic" and FUD is called "Smooth Fine Detail Plastic", but the short names live on among those who are familiar with Shapeways.

** BUT, I really like this scale proportions! ** If I had a resin printer now I would defiantly go for this scale! Only a matter of time before I go that route. Gathering all I can find about it on both forums and the net in general now.

    Many thanks Nap!

Cannons and wagons is an old love I restarted again. Painting figures is something complete new there I have lots to learn, but also part of the fun.
During teenage I was a big Napoleon fan, today mostly swedish Caroleans are on the menu.

    Swedish 1831 field cannon done!

Very pleased with both cannon, limber and gunner, but the scenery need an upgrade to match, Also still learning to paint better. The gunner was finished up with a thin black wash, but maybe I should have added some to the cannon and limber to ... ?

The original 1831 drawing I used as a base for the CAD is also from the swedish army museum. There drawing archive is a goldmine!

Got a just perfect drawing from swedish army museum last thursday on a swedish 1831 reserve wagon, so I made the CAD for it last night. This was pulled behind a regular limber, so they had both extra ammo, carriage, wheels, axles, winch and all kinds of spare parts with them out in the field. Printing it as we speak, this time in 75mm (1:21,2) scale. Had to use shoehorn to make them fit in the Mars printer.. :)

    Hi Henrik,

Will be interesting to see the final result and the use of the new technologies is a good indicator of where our hobby is going. I can't begin to understand any of it but it is fascinating to see it develop.

    Thanks,

all parts except one more pair of wheels printed. Pics soon when painted.

Yes 3D modelling is quite different, but I like it a lot. Always been doing drawings since a kid, but a complete different thing to be able to move around a 3D object on the screen and work on it there until finished for print.

But I would never go for a future 3D printer with colours, that part is as nice as the 3D modelling, like it a lot to.

    = Mil - Swedish 1831 reserve wagon painted! =

Finally got some paint on the spare-wheel wagon today! (reservhjuslvagn in swedish) Really enjoyed doing this. CAD was easy, the new Mars printer behaved and I had some relaxing time today painting it. What more can you ask for [IMG]

    (this is 75mm (1:21.2) scale)

    Hi Henrik

Those are great references and as Keith says 3D shows the way the hobby is heading .....amazing what can be produced and this latest certainly shows that

    Thanks for sharing

    = Mil - The Kings Cannons =

By pure luck I found out that the cannons from 1816 which normally is standing outside Drottningholms castle in Stockholm, is in Gothenburg right now and has been since two years when the renovation started done by the "Artilleriavdelningen i Göteborg" (the artillery department in Gothenburg) association. Yesterday I was there photographing and measuring them, also one of there own cannons from 1863 (the later brown cannon). As you can see, the kings blue cannons now looks amazing and are ready to be shipped back to Stockholm later this year.

Here is a small selection of the best photos I took. These will be made into 3D models later on.

So this is the complete set!

Made the barrel and added some missing details today! Next step is to prepare for print and make it happen.

I admit that artillery is not my passion or main area of interest, but as a miniaturist it is interesting and entertaining for me to follow your work and techniques, so the answer is "yes"

    Have a lovely, productive weekend

I don't understand your reduction scale.
for me 75 mm is 1/24 (man tall 1800 mm) you use 1 / 21.2 (man tall 1590 mm)
