Looks like a superb paintjob, but the picture quality is very low.
Would love to see some new pics.

Did you paint the Christ on the standard or it was a decal?
The same question for shield decoration.

    Hi Guys
Thanks again for the comments all useful feedback

    Hi Djordje
Yes I have to admit the Christ picure and detail on the shield are decals, applied, weathered and sealed with a matt varnish
I bought a sheet of wargaming Byzantine decals from A Wargames show and adapted them to suit my needs as I knew my skills as a painter are not up to the required standard to paint such detail
Although I must admit these decals are superb and applied in a different way to say aircraft decals so as to be very useful for us figure painters, I would recommend them to us lesser mortals!
    Cheers

    Hi Marc
    Thanks for your comments

When I first bought this figure I knew that I would have difficulty with the artwork and I had resigned myself to painting the shield and banner in plain colours with limited designs because I knew that my ability as a painter wouldn't let me do justice to the figure

I had a go TWICE at painting a design on the banner but not being a good enough painter and after stripping the paint off I was recommended these decals by a friend and thought I would try 'em

I always make and paint figures because I like them, they give me pleasure This is a hobby and I hope we do it because we enjoy it and if it brings pleasure to others that is a bonus, no matter how we do it

I am happy with the figure it will be entered in my local club comp and knowing my other members they will decide if it is a success or not! and if anyone should ask I will freely admit to using decals on this figure

As an interesting after thought perhaps other members of the planet would comment on the use of decals or not

    Cheers Marc

    Hi John,

I've got no problem at all with the use of decals, so long as the modeller doesn't try to pass them off as his own work. You didn't do this John, and you freely admitted to the limitations of your painting skills and the convenience of using decals. All power to you mate, you've got every right to use decals on your figures if you want to.

I think Marc's comments were a bit harsh, but I can understand where his comments came from.
  16. Mark S Guest

    'A bit harsh?' I think they're disgraceful.
And certainly not in the spirit of any figure forum I'd like to be part of.

Oke, maybe a bit harsh, but honest.
But you didn't mentioned that you use the decals, you did after someone know this decals and asked if you used it.
Not everyone, me included are capable for painting this kind of banners. But i say it again tell us, and then the comment would be not so hard...but you asked for good or bad. So mine was very good at the beginning but when ....etc.

I'm totally agree with you, i also paint figure's because i like this kind of hobby. I'm also happy when others like what i have done, just as a bonus

So, i hope to see more of your painted figures, with or without decals, but tell it as you post them.

    Hi Normo

Very well executed, my favorite are the metallics. Love the golden shine.
