This will be a mounted figure in 120mm or 1/15th scale.
Head from Michael Roberts, One hand from The Lost Battalion, Boots from Jaguar, Canteen from Model Cellar. All of these kit pieces were modified. The horse is from Dragon and will be modified also.
Uniform markings are for a Sergeant of the Royal Scots Greys in France, 1914. His equipment includes:
• M1902 service dress tunic and cavalry breeches in khaki serge
• M1905 service dress cap, badge shows the Eagle of the French 45th Line captured at Waterloo
• Khaki putties wound bottom to top and blackened ‘ammunition boots’, with spurs (no spurs yet!)
• M1903 (I think!) haversack
• Leather strapped canteen
• Cavalry mess tin
• Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) MK III 0.303 caliber rifle
• 90 round M1903 leather bandoleer
• M1908 sword and holder (not yet!)
• Universal pattern saddle (eventually!)
The horse will be equipped with a leather rifle wallet, bit and snaffle, reins, bridle, two large leather holster type hold-alls, blanket, wooden horse peg and rope, & canvas horse water bucket

As you can tell, this is WIP and very rough. There is a large glob of Supersculpey holding the cavalryman in the right position temporarily. I need to thoroughly clean the figure and equipment and do some detailing on the equipment.

Initially I had thought to have the cavalryman aiming his rifle, but changed my mind when I was fiddling with the arms and rifle alignment. I liked this pre-firing pose better. He's squinting into the distance at something which might be a target.

This duo looks like its coming along nicely.The bandolier may need to fit a little more snugger on the front beside his arm,other than that I look forward to seeing them with some paint.

Andy & Vergilius - Thanks for your comments. The hair I can easily fix, but the bandoleer, not sure about. The only way I can think of to fix that is to remove the bit going over his shoulder, carve into the shoulder a little and relay it. It won't actually be any tighter, but it may look tighter, which, of course, would be enough. Let me see what I can do.

I do agree with vergilius the hair is a bit big at the back, but as you've said an easy alteration.

The equipment looks good, nicely detailed and hanging well on the figure.

Following up Andy's comment about the bandoleer, I figured out how to fix it so it will be a lot tighter looking (I think...). And more importantly, it will improve the figure a bit. Following up Vergilius's comment - I raised the hairline above the neck just a bit and thinned the hair all across the back of the head. Easy.

Seb - I particularly like that straight ahead into his eyes close-up photo. That's what sold me on the fact that I had the arms right and sells the viewer that he's looking at a target. Thanks for your comment!

Robert - I really enjoyed your pilot - great character in that face. Sometime you'll have to explain to me how you captured the year 1940 in a face and a pose. Wow! I'm very impressed by that.

Sorry I don’t know anything about who sculpts David Parkins figures I will ask next time I order from him. He seems to be revamping and reissuing all his old kits with new photo-etched parts.
Something that is in the pipeline is a vignette called ‘Home for Christmas’. It is of a young soldier saying goodbye to his girlfriend at a GWR railway station in 1914.The two figures are set against the fully accurate compartment of a third class railway carriage, with a platform frontage. I don’t know when it will be available and have no illustrations, but sounds very interesting, if a complicated kit to build (I am still looking at the photo-etched parts of the Machine Gun kit I bought and thinking, can I do this?)

Many thanks, Pete! Please let me know what you find out. The vignette of the railway carriage sounds marvelous! There are one or two illustrations of soldiers going away to war which would make great vignettes. A couple done by Georges Scott of French regulars marching off with girls hanging onto their hands that are really touching! I'm sure the Parkin vignette will be equally good!

I had the same experience with that machine gun! It's a marvelous kit, but stinkin' complicated with all the photo-etching to add to it.
