Just re-posting on vBench so these will add to my vBench list, sorry to those who've seen this already.

In case, this is a 75mm Romeo, British Grenadier of the 18th Regiment of Foot, 1751. Painted in Vallajo acrylics and Citadel metallics.

    Cheers

This is the first one of these I've seen finished Colin, and I think you've done a splendid job. Lovely neat painting, and the face is very nice indeed with some great 5 o'clock shadow. Perhaps a tad more contrast between the shadows and highlights might not have gone amiss overall, but nevertheless it's still one you can be proud of.

The groundwork also works much better for me on this one than the groundwork on the last piece you posted (the Confederate officer).

Looking again at that first photo, I'm wondering if the wooden plinth might be a little bit big for this scale figure. Or is that the camera playing tricks perhaps? But that's a relatively minor quibble. Thanks for sharing.

Like the figure, excellent flesh tones,
less sure about the groundwork, it looks a bit unrealistic to me , more like a stage set.

    Thank you Steve and Peter

You right Steve, the base is rather monolithic:cautious:, it's the first pedestal base I made from scratch. I did it at work on midnight shift without the fig and kinda over-guesstimated:D.

Peter, your comment on the groundwork is a popular one. This has been a weak spot for me. I have one in the works now and with the advise and tips I've been getting hopefully the end result is better. Once I get my head around this, I may come back to this one.

    Thanks again Gentlemen

Nice neat painting Colin, but I would try to do a bit more with the gaiters and maybe a few deep shadows under arms ,belts etc.

Very nice paintwork Colin. I must agree with David. The white seems a bit flat.
And the base, that's something where you allready work on.

Very nice job indeed Colin but like some others I feel he needs some more shadows on the white of his gaiters.
Nice job though, you have captured him well in 75mm, congratulations.

Thank you for your imput... as always a great help.

White is always hellish for me, as are other light colours (grey, yellow, buff etc). Since finishing this I've had some 'lessons' which have given me a better approach to white. Hopefully it will show better in future posts.

    Thanks again

    Colin
