Today I have started to paint the rifle .
Of course, the weapon has a historical template , an English musket from the early 17th Century ... :



For that time - we are witnessing the innovation of the conversion from matchlock to flintlock ! - a highly modern weapon!
Intensive trade relations between England and Russia at least since the time of Tsar Ivan IV (1530 - 1584) established - a plausibility , as the English weapon may have come to Russia, is thus present .

Since there was not a significant weapons production in Russia at the time , contributed almost all Cossacks " exotic " took "exotic" weapons around with them - though usually which the Polish-Lithuanian or - more often - Ottoman- Tatar origins.

Next is the painting of the sheep-fur to be seen at the chest and shoulder area.
Coats made ​​of this material were widespread among the Cossacks as a col - and weather protection , many with hoods, which were so spacious that even the high fur cap fit underneath.

These coats were called " Ishik " or " Ton" , both of which date back to Tatar word stems .

They were worn with the fur side out or worn inside.

At the Caucasus Cossacks knew ( and know! ) also sheepskin coats But thery are black and called " Burka " .

Andy has sculpted the fur on the outside to the better impression sake.

So today Sheepskin painting is painted.
You can either the familiar bright (but not white ! ) fur paint ...



Or even a black one... :



For me, the coat will be black because I want to have the clothes of our friend as dark as possible .

Pure Black I suppose only for the deepest shades. The high-lights I painted my pure white.
Now my Cossack looks like this...:

30. Day, 2. December 2013

Today I paintedthe braids which close the Kaften my VCossack forward on the chest.

I want to paint them silver, but in a way, that it shines only slowly and not gloss like metal.

So I have the braids eretmal pre-painted with a mixture of "German Grey" and "Light Grey" ...:





Then a thin Outlining came down to the belt on the chest.

And finally I have the places where light falls, which are so shimmer silver, brushed very carefully with silver.



The subtile shiny-effect is good to be seen on this picture...:

Looks good Martin, that's the same technique I use for "silver metallic" lace. You have executed it very well.

Actually I wanted to "dive "the other side of the chest of the caftan in blue color ...

But then my eyes fell again on the left arm of our Cossack - and I was was not satisfied at once, not with the sculpted drapery and neither with my painting in the shoulder/neck area ...:

The drapery is certainly not culpted wrong, but it comes to me too "fragmented" over - and I've found already while painting that I ever wanted to paint "against" the sculpting. The result looks accordingly ...:



Well...:
- Coulor away with isopropyl alcohol
- sculpted a new (and I think a better) drapery

This way it looks now...:





Tomorrow I'll do the "fine-tuning" ...

So - the whole thing has been revised. Now the drapery looks the way I want to have it...:







Now the "Milliput" may harden. Tomorrow I want to paint priming and the new arm ...

The left chest part of my little Cossack has now become even blue.

And I have the area between the tresses interposed a few cautious lights.

This (lights set) I then also made ​​on the other side of the chest. These few brush strokes now unfold a beautiful effect!

And because just once briefly the sun came through,'ve also can make reasonably decent pictures of it.

And the newly-made folds in the shoulder area of the arm is now even easier to see ...:

Our Cossack wears three leather straps over the chest. I have decided, they all portray with other colors - leather can indeed have so many colors.
