    Hey Kids

Worked a bit more on this Young's Cossack bust.
Did the white shirt as rough dyed cotton shirt using Andrea's white set because of the beige or topue(?) tone to the base and shade with the yellowish undertone of the first highlights.

I wanted a very rich, dark red for the coat so I based with Vallejo 926 Red, Highlighted with 908 Carmine then Carmine and 845 Sunny Skintone (about 60:40). The shade is the base Red with 814 Burnt Cadmium Red (50:50) then straight Burnt Cadmium Red.

    This Cossack is Shooter Approved!

Any change of telling me how you did that red Colin, It looks like it would be spot on for my red coats.

As of right now it's straight from the bottle Vallejo Carmine 908. Check back in your e-mails, I sent you the highs and shadow mixes to go with Carmine as a base a few weeks ago. It's my "go to" Napoleonic uniform red.

If you can't find it I'll resend it to you

    Cheers

    Cute fur ball ;)

    Hi Colin,
Great progress, putting the colours down on the shirt and jacket really lifts that face again. Great tones and eyes, very natural looking.(y)

    Shooter certainly looks fixated.

Mind I would never use the cats tail for dry brushing.

Cats love to muck in - the major reason I am using acrylics over oils right now is my 5 grey tabbies. Their hair gets everwhere. The bust is looking great and appears to be on track for Hamilton.

Wait a sec - this isn't a self-portrait ? I've seen that face somewhere before...all that's missing is the ciggie!

Seriously, it's lookin' great Colin - it'll be great to see it in the flesh in Hamilton (but, no pressure - capice?;))

    Cheers, bro

Thanx Brian... It'll definitely be ready for Hamilton. FYI, though mainly I'm a cigarette guy, I also have 3 or 4 pipes that I enjoy and 2 of them look just like the one that goes with this bust.

    See ya in the Hammer

Joe, Martin, Colin and Ritchie, Thanx so much for your continuing support. As I said, I was nervous doing this bust but it's getting more comfortable as I go along and I hope it finishes off well.
I may not become a regular at bust painting but it's nice to know they aren't as scary as I first thought, so there may be more in my future if I find the right ones that jump up and scream "Hey, do me!";)

    Cheers guys

    Colin
