This is Verlinden's depiction of a German general, based on this picture of Eduard Dietl, commander of the 3rd Mountain Division at Narvik, Norway, in 1940:

I couldn't get on with the kit head, so I swapped it for a Dragon one, but other than that, this was pretty straightforward to do.

Nice work Peter. Good choice of early trouser colour, and I like the binoculars. I'm sure he'd have something to say if a foot slogger sported such a 5 o'clock shadow..:D

    Morning Peter

Another super figure and a well chosen head too.

Looks like he had a night worrying about the troops, somewhere up the front!

The highlights are super, looks like you are sneaking the envelope out just a little and it looks really good.

I have to say, as a senior officer in the mountains, all that red looks like a nice target?

I guess he will be nice and safe well behind the lines?

I see 1/16 figures are now the main menu, what will be next on the bench?

Have a good weekend, Storm Evert seems to have finally passed by.

So glad I am retired from the insurance business, it going to be a busy few weeks for them!

    Regards

    Steve H

    Morning Steve

So glad you like this one. I pushed the highlights because I find it quite hard to animate German uniforms - the only trouble is that they look terrible under artificial light and this nearly got binned last night. Fortunately it looks better in the daylight, so he's safe. I'm planning a few more 1/16 plastic figures as they seem to be giving me the most enjoyment - a bit of a build adding to the fun.

Very windy here yesterday, but no rain. The gazebo danced around the garden a bit, but otherwise no damage. Your ex-colleagues certainly will be busy.

    Have a good one.

The distinct painting style works again IMHO. The far too exaggerated red stripes on the uniform are a problem of the sculptor. Dietl wore this uniform close to the front line (see below) and was not known to look too much after his uniform - so the greenish field gray tone looks good to me - nice job all around(y)
