Born and raised in Dallas, TX! In the late '80s, my family and I spent some time in Devon County UK, and I got to know an old man that was a "Queens Guard" back in his day. Was an incredible individual that I will never forget.

Anyway, he had this collection of miniatures, mostly 54mm Queens Guards, that he hand painted... hundreds of them. He was, with no exaggeration, a master painter. I was in such awe of the life like detail on his minis. He told me about the hobby, showed me his workbench and I found it all to be so incredibly interesting. I was about 12 years of age at the time and wasn't even aware that miniature painting existed. Unfortunately, due to his age, he wasn't able to continue with painting miniatures due to bad eyesight and shaking hands.

So this is what inspired me to take up miniature painting. Once I returned to the states, the only minis I could get my hands on were Ral Partha. My skills developed somewhat, using Testors paint along with their cheap brushes and no primer. I only stuck with it for a couple of years unfortunately. In January of 2011 I found some YouTube videos posted by Dave Youngquist/MichToyCo and that did it for me. I started ordering minis, paints, brushes etc. and got have since gotten back into this with a fury/passion! While my skills are nowhere near what we all see here on the Planet, I absolutely love painting. I thoroughly enjoy communicating with others on this site, seeing all of the great works and especially learning so much. So, this is my brief history of miniature painting and how it all started for me.
