that's mighty neighbourly of you! Seeing as how I'll probably end up being busy again when I get to SA I might give sculpting a go as well. Same thing, always wanted to do it but never had the cojones or talent. Oh and you have come a long way, like I said before, seeing your evolution on PF is pretty cool, especially when you consider that most of it is the result of self-teaching from advice via text!

Anyway, I will take you up on your offer and drop you a line if ever I get the chance to head over to WA, in the meantime however, you do the same if you're ever in SA or Vic (for the next 2 months anyway).

Sadly, SA has fewer figure modellers than Vic, although there are a couple of guys over in Adelaide who are pretty keen. Perhaps when you've finished in SA you should keep travelling west.

The fact that WA has Australia's only figure modelling club has less to do with luck, and more to do with the fact that the clubs here tend to be focussed on a single type of model (ie.cars, AFV's, Sci Fi etc).

Since I joined Planet Figure my eyes have been opened to the wide world of figure modelling, and it's really encouraged me to become more serious and focussed about my figure modelling. Hopefully it shows in the work I'm now doing, compared to what I was producing just 2 years ago.

I've even had a go at sculpting my own figures, which was something I'd always wanted to try but never had the confidence to do.

Looks like I picked the wrong state! Headed down from Singapore bout 3 years ago and was preoccupied with studies up till last year when I started attending club meetings. Naturally I was disappointed at the sheer number of aircraft boys around and blatant absence of figure modelers!

I have heard about your initiative in Perth though and have to say you guys are pretty lucky to have a dedicated figure club going. Something that would never happen in Victoria (I can count the number of figure painters I know on one hand - with a couple of digits to spare).

Anyway, as luck would have it, I'm hauling ass to SA next year and will probably be there for the next 4 years or so. Let's hope prospects are better there eh? Don't shatter my delusions if you know something I don't!

I grew upand went to school in Melbourne before moving to Perth back in 1998, and I know most of the characters and clubs in the Melbourne figure modelling scene. Figure modelling has really taken off in the last 10 years and at our local model show WASMEx, we are seeing more nd more figuresentered into competition and on display every year. Perth is now the hometoAusralia's only dedicated figure modelling club. Perhaps you should come over and join us mate!!
