    Peter Cushing 1/6 head

Thanks Rob, Indeed, the hair is one of the areas I´ve been less than satisfied with. In this case, the subject made it all more difficult due to the thinning hair that I think is almost but imposible to capture in miniature without actually using real fibres. Maybe I´ll try to add more fine...

    Peter Cushing 1/6 head

Hi all, I´ve enjoyed a lot painting this excellent digital sculpt as an experiment and to try my hand at larger scales and dabble in mixed media techniques (airbrush and brushes). All comments and critiques welcome.

    Officer of Tercios, Rocroi 1643

A nice figure from Romeo Models I´ve painted as a comission. Sorry for the crappy photos -taken with my phone camera- but they are the only ones I have of the finished work. Regards, César

    Completed Critique Old Pirate bust

This is my last figure. It´s our local model club last year special piece -now in Mig Productions catalogue-. I´ve painted it to be the prize in this year raffle at our model show. I think I need to add a strong highlight to the embroidery. Any comments welcome

    Ancient hispanic warrior bust

The bust is modelled by Hugo Gómez Briones and it will be the commemorative piece in our club show, ACAM -Asociación cántabra de modelismo- this year. We will give a resin copy for to each modeller in the competition. It represents a cantabrian warrior before the roman conquest. But it´s...

    Pegaso Miniatures

Yes, very similar to Pegaso offering. It´s interesting that the sword looks like an hoplite sword, like this: http://www.larp.com/hoplite/grswrd1.jpg

    Pegaso Miniatures

I think the Roland figure is based in 19th century sources, like i.e the figure of Julius Caesar from Andrea in 90mms . It doesn´t represent a 8th century frankish warrior, but the idea people have of a Frank a hundred years ago. A neat figure but IMHO is not historically correct (I´m not...

    Elite Miniatures

I have read that an Umaiyad Caliph of muslim Spain (I think Abderrahman III, but I´m not sure) had blond hair and blue eyes. You should had in mind that in Al-Andalus the arab aristocracy mixed from the first time with the visigothic nobility. It comes to my memory also the caucasian mamluks in...

    Seil Models

The company was Taxdir miniaturas. It seems that Tomás Castaño has sold many of his line to Seil Models.

Who would be your favorite sculptor?

I think nobody mentioned Adriano Laruccia, but for me he is the best.

    What kind of a brushes.....

Sable brushes can be used with oils, enamenl and acrylic paints with no problems. In fact, they were originally made for watercolor painting for its greater water absortion.

    Hoplite

I haven´t these figures, Andrea, Verlinden and Amati hoplites nor the Romano-British from Soldiers. But if I would have to choose one I would buy the later without any doubt. The sculpting and details from Adriano Laruccia´s models are, IMHO, among the best, if not the best, while the Andrea...

    Art Girona - March 2004

Each figure have been painted by the own sculptor. To date, all Art Girona figures from Diego Fernández Fortes, Juan Carlos Ãvila Ribadas, and Raúl García Latorre have been painted by themselves.

Suggestions for a basis for a Judean?

I think the book "Living in the Times of Jesus of Nazareth" by Peter Connolly is the best graphic reference you can find. The author is very good illustrator and historian and the book covers the time frame you are looking for. For I can remember from this book, non rich judeans of the...
