I seem to be able to post pics now, so thanks to admin.

I just had to buy this lovely 1/6th bust from Stu at Stormtrooper and sculpted by Carl Reid.

    french rev3.jpg

Cleaned, washed and primed him then painted his eyes in acrylics ,then clear gloss varnished them before applying the Artist's oils for the rest of the face.

    That's enough for today.

Many thanks, yes he is really nice, and as he is quite large I like the the lack of uniform which smaller size have.
Once his Bicorne is on it will make quite a difference to the size.

    Cheers

Thank you Joel, once the paint is dry I shall stipple some Davys Gray to his jaw area to give him a 5 o'clock shadow.

    Hey Geoff,
Love the way the face came out. Any chance of getting the color mix? It would help a great deal to try and emulate your work.
    Thanks,
    Joel

    Thank you Joel,

The Artist's oils I use are.
Titanium White and Burnt Sienna for the basic skin mix.
Raw Umber or Vandyke Brown for the outlining, or a mix of both which I did for this face.
Follow this info in picture, I found it on the web, don't know who posted it.

I use Cadmium Red Hue for the cheeks, lips, etc but very sparingly.

I a 5 o'clock shadow is needed I use Davy's Gray stippled gently on the required areas, as below,

    Hope this will help you.

I have given the hair a couple of washes of Citadel Nuln Oil shade as I like the way is goes into the creases well and helps with the definition effect.

I have also given him the 5 o'clock shadow using straight from the tube Davy's Gray Artist's oils stippled on the required area.

Probably will not be doing any more today as we are visiting an NGS garden later, plus they do great tea and homemade cakes.
