    Beautifully painted, but why has he got green facings? The 88th were a yellow-faced regiment so they should match his sash.

    You are correct Windy. The 88th had Pale yellow facings, They also wore pointed loops on the button lace not square ended.
    Green facings did not appear for this regiment until 1881.

    Thanks for your comment Windy ! I had the same question, as you had, too, as I expected to paint yellow facings.
    I cannot recall the information I pick-up from internet, this specific regiment came from Ireland so the laces of the jacket were green as a tribute to. Additionally to that, the boxart painting example wiped out all my doubts. :)
