Latest project for me (hopefully not as long as the last one ) is this fantastic rendition of a RAF Pilot in a relaxed pose with his ever faithful Hound, looking at the sculpt a Cocker Spaniel. Parts primed and ready to go;



Base coated the life jacket in white, wish i had done this on my Bader figure!;



Next a base coat of Dark Yellow



and then, Ice yellow added to lighten things up




Masked and his trousers and lower jacket airbrushed in blue

No better way to spend a quiet couple of hours painting his jacket, wife out with mother in law, kids revising (that's wht they said) . Netflix on the TV and a bottle of quality beer

Found some great references for the Mae west, at Cosford airshow. the re-en actor very kindly let me take a photo of him wearing one. what i did deduce was that they are not as yellow as i thought, more of a khaki colour. even so from the pictures you can see they change shade depending on the light. Also great to understand why they had army uniforms on and not air force ones.

The plan last night was to paint his Mae west, but as it was torrential outside, and i didn't fancy getting soaked going to the paint store (Kids old playhouse) to get the paint i would need. So instead decided to paint his jacket and trousers. Various washes of highlights and shadows have been painted and when finished an overall glaze/wash of the original colour to tone it all down and tie it all together. Then a coat of AK Interactive Ultra Matt Varnish was added.

Lovely paint job so far, especially on the Irvin jacket & Mae West.

Mae west painted up last night. Also added a satin varnish to his Irvin Jacket, which was a bit worrying at first as it seemed very dark ,but over night the jacket has gone back to its original shades - phew;

In between adding the various layers of blacks/greys/whites onto 'Louis' I also got on with the pilots '1939 pattern flying boots';










Where's Your Head At? (Basement Jaxx)



Need a coat of matt varnish as does Louis, and the boots need some light dirt added to them.

Face painted and head attached to the body, hat next though may re do his right eye, dunno yet
