My stuff in the garden shed. I'm not allowed in the house, I make to much mess.

Here’s a few shots of my workspace. We redid the attic last year, so I have a dedicated playroom, attached to the room for my GI Joe collection. Feeling blessed to look at it! The area behind the blue curtain is full of the totes holding my GA and kits.

Nice stash of old Aurora kits, there, Matt! I built all of the Prehistoric series except for the T-rex. By the time that one came out, I had gotten older and had moved on to scale historical models. But one of the first things I built when I got back into scale modeling (now a long time ago) was the Aurora Godzilla. That really took me back!

A little followup...I had used this storage cabinet for most of my paints:



For jars of paint, like Tamiya or Master Modeler, I used small labels to mark each jar, so I could find them easily:



But as I acquired more eyedropper bottles, and craft store paints, I had trouble identifying which bottle was which. I had to remember where each color sat:



Eventually, I took some plywood scrap and made myself a rack with angled shelves, so I could see the labels:



As it happened, that rack fit in the large toolbox I use for my mobile kit.

My enamels and oils, I keep in an artist's toolbox that I got years ago at Blick's:



So now, when go on the road, I just have two toolboxes and it's much easier to get around.

Wow, I love that !! Not only paint and putty but old toys !! Pickers-heaven !!
Here's some pictures of my safespace. Got me a 4x3 meter room-with-a-view so lots of space for my workbench, completed figures, ClintEastwood (complete works) DVD-collection, my "Toys-I-had-when-I-was-young"-collection and my home-recording studio . Now, would I still have my WW2 minitaria-collection, my Thunderbird-vintage-toy collection and my Airfix 1/72 soldiers collection I would need two rooms but they made good money over the years

I guess I'm lucky compared to some, in the sense that at our place I generally have the entire upper floor to play in.
The staircase leads up to my hobby room and then out to the conservatory and the wife's patio.
The conservatory does get great light, but come June/July/August it can get uncomfortably hot out there; so I normally just use it for storage unless I'm working on the groundwork for dioramas and vignettes, or doing what for me are particularly large displays, such as those in this photo.


Back in the hobby room and facing the staircase - on the right-hand wall, I have a series of small alcoves where mainly older small dioramas are kept, although the some of the available space is also used for storage.


Further along, I have a couple of bookcases that are used for displays, (err, and storage), and they're separated by the Wine & Beer fridge I was given for my birthday a few years back - sadly it appears to be almost empty; then again, it is Sunday evening.
The diorama on top of the nearest bookcase is a WIP which I really ought to get on with, and I've no idea how that Ancient Greek figure sneaked into it.


Those miniature studio lights were ordered last week and delivered today, so I set them up on top of the fridge to try them out.


I used them to take this quick shot of a Knight I'm presently working on for my Dungeon of Doom display.


Then tried them either side of the bookcase just for shucks. Seems like money relatively well spent, but there's no doubt I do need to experiment with them before I'll get optimum results.


The wall on the left-side is where all my paints, primers, hand-tools, and other stuff are stored


And of course, this is my figure workbench.


Have to admit I find it funny that with all this available space, the actual figure painting itself takes place on an area that's usually covered by a sheet or two of A4 printer paper....

Yeah, even with so much available space we still only need relatively small working areas unless a few similar figures are being worked on simultaneously. Like I mentioned, doing groundwork for dioramas is done out in the conservatory. Even I wouldn't get away with shoveling celluclay around in my hobby room; and especially not, shaking static grass onto vignette bases inside the house - that stuff ends up everywhere if you're not careful.

It's a bit of a step down from what I was used to, but when I downsized several years ago, I got relegated to the basement. Beats being in the potting shed though.

I'll post pics later of my War Room where all of my finished projects and books are kept.

LOL I wish I'd been the guy to invent the green mats we all have on our desks. I'd be rich.

This pic is a few years old, but the only thing that has changed is the model on the bench and a paint rack. Everything within reach is how I prefer it. And like Nap, I have a boat load of books; research before the internet, HA!
