    Hi Guys,

Ive finally got around to putting paint on these. Ive tried a new technique for the faces, which still needs some detailing, but means I can get to this stage a lot quicker!! Painting is with Vallejo Acrylics.

1/9 scale Pandour by Mookies, with mods by me and the Bosniak Lancer, sculpted by me, over an original cast, with more mods by me!!

    Thanks for looking,

    Steve(y)

Thanks guys! Ive had a bit of a layoff from painting, recently, but I started these on Friday evening and was surprised how far I got. I was going to do an SBS, but I got so carried away, that I forgot to take the pics...!!

More progress tonight on these two, put the base coats on the lace on the Bosniak, and the green on the pandour's waistcoat, amongst other work - hopefully done soon!(y)

I'd like to know as well. Always ready to try and learn new techniques
Those faces are full of character and the way they're painted emphasizes it. So how did you pull it off then Steve?

Having read about the technique that John Strachan uses on his figures and busts, by blocking in the shade and highlights, then applying washes and glazes, I tried my own version. I used Vallejo Saddle Brown as an allover basecoat, then drybrushed Medium Skintone over this, then another drybrush of Light Skintone on the nose, forehead, chin, cheekbones and ears. I then used several glazes of Medium Skintone to pull it all together, finishing with a slight red wash on the cheeks and a blue-grey for the 5 o'clock shadow, followed by some very thin washes of Skintone Shade. By drybrushing the base coats, it eliminates the hard edges I was getting which were difficult to disguise! The basic faces were done in less than half an hour each!(y)
