I’ve been waiting for a base in order to progress this set and that subsequently arrived a few days ago. As a result I’ve been able to move things along with a view to getting it finished. I’ve mounted both figures on the base and I’m moving along with the groundwork. I’ve put oils on the hussar’s sabretache and scabbard and once these are dry I’ll attach them. I was unsure about the fitting of the sabretache-the sword belt has two metal rings for attachment of straps for both the scabbard and the sabretache but the sabretache has three straps. The box art with the kit seemed to suggest two straps going to the back ring and one to the front but the photos were a little dark. My research seemed to show versions with just two straps or with three but attached to hooks on the sword belt between the two metal rings. In the end I opted for two straps on the sabretache and cut the centre one out. Other than these two items to fit, it’s just a case of finishing off/tidying up the groundwork and trimming off the two lengths of metal rod helping to secure the figures to the base. That is a very nice model Neil well painted and well put together.

Just a cursory point if you decide to take it to a show or two (which I hope you do) I would recommend bracing the horse with a piece of card, place between front legs and along the belly, to stop it bouncing up and down. Something I have learnt over the years

Hi Kev, thanks for the comments. My own research showed variations of either two or three and attachments varied, some going to hooks on the belt itself between the two rings. Paul (DaddyO) found it to be somewhat similar when he responded to my request for help on this. In the end I opted to go with two on the theory that, as with the sword having two slings it would be one strap/sling per ring.

    Cheers
