    Hello folks,
I had these figures i've completed almost 7 years ago.
They were part of a project that never saw the light of being done and decided to do some touch ups and have a little scenette of 3 figures.
I am awaiting the base , so, meanwhile i will be re-touching some areas.
This regiment fought int he Americar war of independence, it was part of the Royal Auvergne that was separated into the creatiion of the Regiment de Gatinois and sent to America.
The uniform was white with violet/ purple lapels and piping at the cuffs and pockets.
The regulation of 1779 banned the grenadier's fur cap out of the uniform, but few regiments in America disregarded this order, one of them was the Regiment de Soissonois, i have these chaps wearing the tricorne hat with the red pon-pon estipulated on the regulation, another interesting feature of the 1779 Reg. Was the red shoulder straps for grenadiers, green for chasseurs and white piped in the facing color for fusiliers... french-officer-lg.jpg 20190410_220749.jpg 20190410_220802.jpg 20190410_220818.jpg

    Looks good.
The rifle of the left one in the picture is not straight, as is the bajonet from the right on. Can easy be bend in the right position.

Daniel, Great job on the white uniform(y) I like the way you pulled off the purple/lavender color on the facings as well! The French uniform at this time was very colorful! Big fan of the French in the Rev War. Would this regiment have been at the Siege of Savannah, GA in 1779? Would love to hear what you had planned for these three figures. Thanks for sharing your work!

I think this might be considered as fair wear and tear caused by a long campaign....

    Thanks Tery,
The infamous order of uniforms of 1776 was hated by the French trooos and high command, the coats wore shortened, facing colors , cuffs and collar had numerous variations in color, some are really nice, like Saintonge , white uniform with Aurore lapels, cuffs and sky blue collar, some were terrible :-( , they have even introduced a 4 cornered hat, many Frenchies thought they looked more like prussians than French.
The new Reg. Of 1779 gave a relief to these complaints and they went back to " a la Francesse" style.
The siege of Savannah has these trooos in the 1776 reg, a very interesting and frudtrated assault on the Brits.
They even brought the Colonial teooos from now, modern day Haiti and Martinique.

Daniel, I appreciated your post.(y) If you ever get to Savannah, GA. There is a statue in one of the parks of the Volunteers of Santa Domingo. Very inspiring statue. I like the picture you posted of the group. Love the uniform!

The Opsrey book you shared is one of my favorites. Mine is a little worn, LOL.

Thanks for sharing your interest. It is always great to find others who have similar interests in history and the hobby. I will keep an eye out for more of your work.

Yes, i love these colonial troops uniforms, the did not follow the Regulations of tje main land, they had their own 'flair' since they did not receive or strictly follow the new regulations for the uniforms. images.jpeg-3.jpg
