    Hi Guys

Sometime ago Rob Lane released ths DAK officer which I found in the GA , haven't seen many painted which is a real shame it's a nice piece

    image.jpeg

Casting is really good ,I believe done by Martyn Dorey from Model Display Products

I started wondering after finding this image.jpeg

Above his 3 service ribbons this officer wears the Close Combat Clasp in gold, and below them the Iron Cross First Class and the Infantry Assault badge in bronze as well as the Iron Cross 2nd class and service ribbon

....cuff title on the left ....Mmmm wondered why Rob never put it on ......

The majority of pics show it on the right cuff so I began looking about ...and found whT are probably studio pics

    image.gif image.jpeg image.jpeg

    Using these also as ref

Interesting the ribbon position and only 1 skull badge

    image.jpeg

    Colourised version

    image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Currently cleaning up the piece ...very minimal to do will be adding a couple of ribbons and the clasp and will rank him up as per epaulette which is for infantry regiment 104 which was part of 21st Panzer division, the 21st Panzer div were part of the DAK.

Obviously I could sand off the skulls on the collar and add the 104 in which case the thread title needs changing ...THOUGHTS PLEASE !!!

Sanded off the cast on bottle label will add a different shaped one

    Stay tuned

    Hi Guys

    Thanks for the comments

Finished ribbons and cuff band ( will hand paint the lettering etc ) ,shape and centre part of the clasp done ...painting will bring more out ! .....still to do the oakleaves on each side

Would like to put PE there instead !

Not the best pictures as the detail merges a bit ...but it's there !!

    Thanks for looking in

Cheers Rob good to have you on board

Nearly finished the clasp ..need to be patient and let it dry before adding the final top leaf ...promise it will look like it painted !

Would love to find a picture of the 104th wearing the skulls .....you've done a great job on them .......

    Decisions decisions !!

    Cue iffy pic ..

    image.jpeg

Would apprecciate a thought on the cuffband ...there are variations in width but does it look over scale on it ...be honest !

    Nap...off for coffee

Really nice modification Nap! I personally think the cuffband is fine, especially as there are size variations in the photos. Also, to me, the band in some of the photos seems thinner because of the stitching on the top and bottom. My eye concentrates on the darker color of the band when judging the thickness making it seem thinner. Anyway, it's looking great.

    Cheers,
    Ken

Been having a look around ...

Found these of Panzer Regts 5 and 8'.....Obersts Mueller and Cramer respectively

    image.jpeg image.jpeg

    Also this Frau ... image.jpeg

Great pics but not infantry !!......

Found this but can't be sure he isn't Panzer

    image.jpeg ...

    ...but it's looking promising ....

    Found this on Pinterest

    image.jpeg

Definitely DAK ...no Regt number but more likely to be worn by officers I feel ....he has light coloured edging poss Inf ?? ...or maybe the panzer pink has faded a lot !!! ...and the skulls are worn ....

So going to add the 104 on the epaulettes with my reasoning being that the 104th officer is proud to be a part of the 21st Panzer Div ......

Nap, the pink waffenfabe is panzer troop and the light green is infantry. I believe the skull badges denote panzer tank troopers. The picture of the trooper wearing the pith helmet has a tank assault badge. I don't think the infantry wore the deaths head on the lapels.
Hopefully some one will have a definitive answer.
    Looking good.

Nice job so far Nap. Love the changes that bring the individual touch to your pieces. Haven’t seen this bust before but certainly looks to be worth investigating further.

Agree with you Bob ..good spot on the assault badge ...enlarging the pic shows a distinct pink piping to the epaulettes ...atm the skulls still there ......my reasoning is he is rather proud of serving with Panzer troops .....Numbers in place ...very sharp blade on standby .....for the skulls ..not me ..LOL

    Thanks for the input

Cheers Neal ..I have lots of pieces ready with individual touches ...just need to swirl the brushes !!

It's well worth a look ..Rob has it a a great price on the website

Hi Nap, how you doing on this one.
I have had a look at this picture again and looking at this guys assault badge it would appear to be The Tank assault badge because looking at it closely all you can see is the top bit.
    DAK.jpg

Defo looks like a Tank in the badge.
So it would appear he is a Tankie and missing one skull lapel badge.

Great details agree about the badge see piccy ....as in my last post I removed the skulls to the spares box so he is a decorated Officer from the 104th
