    Hi all,
due to a long job related break in modelling I was looking for a project that would get me back into the "feel" for handling the dusty brushes and paints...
This figure from Stalingrad Miniatures was one of the projects from the back row of my workbench. It was slightly converted by reworking the facial features and replacing the foliage on the helmet. The 1/16 figure is a very nice sculpt based on contemporary footage showing a squad of the Grossdeutschland-Division on exercise preparing for the battle in the Kursk salient.
    Here are some WIP-shots.

Painting was done so far with acrylic paints from the Andrea and Scale 75 range. Face and helmet are finished - uniform jacket in progress minus details and extreme highlights/ deepest shadows to be completed.
Hobby-related comments and critique as always welcome!

    Cheers, Martin

Cool figure, didn’t know of it.
And very realistic finish on the face Martin.
What didn’t you like about the facial features?

    Cheers,

    Hi Adrian,
thanks for the comment. Yes for me the face is the part of the figure that makes or breaks it. The original face of the kit is not what I was looking for... more a cartoonish grinning. The rest of the figure is excellent.
Here is a picture of the boxart:

Very nice so far, I have this figure also and yes I agree, the face is the weakest part of the kit. I look forward to seeing this one finished.

    Cheers,
    Brendon.

These are the two figures in that scale available from Stalingrad Miniatures so far. I hope they will expand the range looking at their excellent coverage of that period in 1/35 scale.
