Senior Royal Navy Captain -1812, Phoenix Miniatures 54mm metal

Continuing down memory lane, here are the Phoenix Miniatures I promised.

For this vignette, titled "Poetry Reading", I combined three of their releases, all from the Regency range and all released in the 70's. These figures were sculpted by Tim Richards. Some of the figures in the Phoenix range were also sculpted by Roger Saunders and possibly others. Richards' and Saunders' figures are easily identifiable but some of the others are a bit crude.

Setting the scene:

The Royal Navy Captain and the chair were not modified at all.

For the Lady, I brought in my wife as a consultant. The first suggestion was that the Lady was about to have a Wardrobe malfunction and could I fix it. I therefore raised the bodice with green stuff to reduce the cleavage a bit. The colors for the hair and dress were my wife's choice and a good one, I think.

Since I wanted her to be reading poetry, I filed off most of the playing cards in her hand and replaced them with a book made from green stuff.

I added a rug to the base which was also purchased back in the 70's prior to the internet and home color printers. It came with cardboard versions of a dozen different rugs.

I was going to lay a floor of wooden planks but since the rug covered 80% of it, I decided to simply scribe the boards into the base with a hobby knife.

That's it.

I think Phoenix miniatures were well done, back in the day, and still stand up as fun sculptures today.
