    Before anyone bothers now that the Soviet star at the Pilotka is not red as it should be ...:

    The first scouts and snipers painted these red stars because of camouflage with green paint - mostly with the - everywhere available! - dark green that was actually intended for equipment (eg tanks).

    Later (autumn 1941) the stars painted in uniform color were given to the special units ...:
