    Dear friends and colleagues

    UPDATE on our Anniversary release

    Finally, the long-awaited Northern Chronicles boxart is ready.

    We are glad to show it to The World! ))

    There is some unusual thing about it: this vignette is a team work.

    Of course the main role was played by brilliant artist Margarita Mihailova. Thank you Margo!

    But! We can proudly say that this vignette would not have turned out without a company of outstanding creators!

    With great pleasure we will thank them again:

    Margarita Mikhailova - Figure painting
    Vladimir Alekseev - Base
    Alexander Bodunov - Sculpture (people)
    Andrei Ross - Sculpture (raven)
    Vyacheslav Rusyaev - Stand
    Many thanks lads!

    BTW the photos show only one story - the farewell scene. This kit includes two fundamentally different stories and is still available for ordering.

    A posse ad esse!

    3d sculptor: Andrei Ross (Bird)

    The set includes 3 human figures and a bird. Two man heads to choose from.
    Two fundamentally different stories may be assembled from the kit.
    During development process, we called them "Viking farewell to his faithful wife" and "Viking meets his unfaithful wife" ;)
    But of course we let everyone to come up with their own story.

    Historical appearance reconstruction mainly is made on archaeological finds in Scandinavia and the Danelaw regions.
    We paid much attention to the details of the composition:
    - Rings and bracelets on hands;
    - Fibulas on the leg windings;
    - High detail scramasax sheath and sword hilt;
    - The correct helmet from Gjermundbu taking into account the latest research on this famous artifact;
    - Woman jewelry and accessories;
    - Claws on the crow feet;
    and much more...

    The kit is available for order. Sending - from 01/28/19.

    @serafeim, did not see the second version (hand of man on throut of woman), I only saw the warrior husband saying goodbuy to his wife - which is what I meant with 'interesting concept'. IF I were to purchase this scene, it would be the latter I would focus on.

    Having said that, in Nordic (Viking) cultures such behaviour to slaves was not only common, it was also expected.
    Is this not part of the remit of Art - encouraging thinking about behaviour, and understanding how such behaviour has changed throughout the ages?

    We are agreed to the both points of view actually. That was the main reason why we sell both stories as one kit. We want to give our customers option to choose how they want to show their Viking.

    We all remember that Vikings are made their trips all over the Globe not to have a cup of tea somewhere in England, right?

    BTW most of the miniature figures are showing different era people fighting to death during different conflicts. I don`t think that war of any era is less filthy than a home violence against women.

    And I absolutely agreed with Landrotten Highlander
    Yes it is. We MUST show an era from different points of view to catch the spirit of it. Was it cruel and crude? - Yes! Did those man miss their families and beloved women? - Of course. May they kill a cheating wife? - For sure. You choose what story to show on your bookshelf, we just give you the ability to show different.

    "Stop sexism in figure modeling"

    I couldn't agree more!!

    I mean, just check this out: All that naked flesh … the bulging muscles … the rippling torso ... the six-pack … the mane of black hair sweeping down over his ruggedly handsome face … not to mention the thinly-disguised symbolism of the large "weapon" he's wielding :eek::nailbiting: .

    Talk about "objectification"!!!

    I'M OFFENDED!!!!! :eek::nailbiting::eek::nailbiting:

    Unfortunately in figure modeling world there is a continuous violation against women. Some brands and modelers represent their female figures almost exclusively as porn stars or something like this. Now this exceeds everything. This figure promotes the violence against women. Sorry but I will not buy from brands that promotes ideas like these.
    Stop sexism in figure modeling

    IMHO serafeim is entitled to post his view. I agree that female subjects in modelling are usually shown displaying their female forms and sexuality. Especially the female warriors are wearing useless armor or torn clothes that "coincidentally" show their boobs etc.
    I disagree that the vignette above promotes violence because the spectator decides who is the good and the bad person in this scene and if violence is a proper answer to a problem. The female figure is in difference to many other figures dressed in regular historical clothes and does not show any oversized female forms etc.
    The only thing I don´t like too much is the static posture of both figures that does not translate their movement and the reaction to the touch or the yoke.
    I appreciate the many comments that point out that this hobby is all about figures and that war is a murderous business on all sides. Don`t forget it when you feel the urge to comment about "another Nazi".

    Cheers, Martin

    I suspect that such homoerotic figures appeal to a different audience ;)

    Agree with that. I think that both are too static and somewhat "wooden".

    One can only edit ones own posts so, in this case, the original poster edited his original comment himself which is a pity. In my opinion one should always stand for ones initial opinion and not back away when others react but, as for now, I suggest we close the discussion and "let figurepainting be figurepainting whatever the subject.

    Landrotten Highlander quoted the initial post - so all you have to do is look this up and you can see the changes - most likely done by serafeim himself - and not all replies remained intact thanks to the mod (who did his job IMHO).

    Admittedly, I can not say who edited the original post, but I do know that my own posts were edited by the moderator in the past. Perhaps, Nap can clarify the editorial policy.
