The hairstyle is too full at the back and sides.
Perhaps his nickname would be ‘Tubby’.

Compare the build of the desert tankers with the figure, it's not the uniform I'm commenting on, it's his diet. How many large sized tankers do you see in photos?

Overall both figures look good quality, but have to agree the 'weight issue' sort of makes them out of the ordinary.

Here is a photo of a commander (Major-General R.F.L. Keller) of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division addressing troops in Normandy in August 1944. His bio does reveal he had a drinking problem.

So in the middle of WWII with a massive manpower shortage, conscription and people being rushed into post, there was never a chunky tankie? As an aside my old man was 1RTR and there was a Polish Sgt who's party piece was to pick Dad and the armchair he was in and throw him through the mess doors. I bet he was tiny too.

What a fantastic vignette, or having looked at some of BrianK's links, a flat... just wish I had the time/skill/tank (any ideas what it is, I'm not a tank-person?)

A10 A1 Cruiser tank. Gecko Models do an excellent 1/35 plastic kit, with a good period figure with it.

I am going against the trend and saying I really like the look of this figure he may be chubby but for some reason in this scale the figure just looks very real to me. I think I will have to pick him up :)

My main issue isn't his weight, it's his beret. It's the modern style to have the badge on the side like that. Period was over the left eye. See the Major-General above. I also looks to have a wide headband, as opposed to the thin leather one they did have (see the two chaps climbing the tank). I think they've looked at a modern photo for reference. Unfortunate as it distracts from the figure.
