Fantastic work so far. Trying to create harnessing for a kettle drummer project of my own, so will be studying your photos and project closely.

Stunning work Paul, I can only stand back and admire your expertise-did you train as a jeweller or something?

Looking at the pictures of the Borin model on here I am so glad I didn't buy one as the poor quality of the casting is self evident from the pictures-I had the misfortune to buy another Borin kit a short while ago which I ended up binning.

Look forward to following this gem.

Hello Keith, thanks for the compliments. No I have no experience as a jeweller (maybe my wife would like it). Very few manufacturers are producing kettledrummers. I once asked Leibovitz whether he would be tempted to have a try (you know he made a beautiful Polish one some 30 years ago). His first answer to me was "I am too old". His second - and more serious one - was that, as a manufacturer of kits, you cannot propose something that requires too much additional work from the modeller, which is unavoidably the case if you want a realistic representation of the kettledrums and their fastening system. Believe it or not, Leibovitz' first market is collectors, not experienced modellers who do not care about or even enjoy detailing or converting existing kits.

This level of skill is a testament to how good our best practitioners are. Just brilliant.

    HI Paul,

I've been pestering Bruno to do one for as long as I can remember, I used to think he ignored me because his English is as bad as my French.....LOL....now I know the truth.

Such a pity about Borin because I was excited when he produced it but my recent experience has been a real no no!

I asked about being a Jeweller or even Horologist because I sometimes find those with such skills transfer to modelling-Richard Almond was a Jeweller by Trade I understand.

So in your case it is just Talent:rolleyes:..:D Really enjoy watching your creations.

The finesse of this work is quite staggering.
I like it as it is - I'm not sure I could bring myself to apply the coat of primer paint!
    Bonne continuation!

I can’t imagine the skills required to do such detailed sculpting and scratch building in that scale.
