    Hi everyone

I blame it on Geoff Charman .....after being inspired by his fine rendition of this bust I decided to have a look at mine

Mmmm ....I thought , sculpted nicely by Steve Leadley ( Valiant ) with pilots wings ......

More thoughts .....do something a little different ......a non pilot aircrew .....

Off the wings came and added the shape of the observer wing , , volunteer reserve badges and .....

....medal ribbon ( had to ..couldn't resist !!! )......mine will be a Distinguished Flying Medal .

FYI ...the ribbon is violet and white stripes with a violet one showing top right and bottom left corners

After loosing the pipe that comes with this piece to the carpet monster , I have made another but not sure about using it !

......reworked the "Spiv" looking moustache to something a little more " bushy "

    Using these references initially

Finding a suitable base ( probably from the company S-73 a fine supporter of FOTM )

If I can find a ref of RAF personal wearing Kharki with RAF badges ..I will do that version with a RAF blue cap

    Stay tuned and happy benchtime

    Nap

PS: You might ask why do this ..well I see Geoff at shows so it will be great to compare them both

Kev - Ive read that the mix of khaki and blue SD was more evident in the Med, especially Italy... Some FOOs attached to armoured units apparently, wore army SD with RAF headgear in Normandy, but Im struggling to find picture refs!(y)

I dont know any reason why not...!! The SD was fairly similar throughout the war, as were the insignia. When I did this one, I had Coastal/Bomber Command in my head..!!

    Hi Steve
Mmmm ......Italy it might be .... reckon I might put the red Eagles on the top arm insignia on Kharki but with blue/black backing on rank and VR and the wing

By the way nothing wrong with your version ...lol

    Thanks for input

    Hi Guys

    Thanks for the posts

    Tony and Bob

Not too closely you will bump into the Sknners horse bust !!!

    Carl

Thanks for looking , saw those as well ......my theory is that on operational squadrons , far away , he used what he could get hold of ...in this case an army jkt and various styles of badges .....

Actually looking forward to getting this going ...think will have to put it inbetween working on the Skinners ..to maintain my sanity !!!
