Yesterday I received a surprise parcel in the post from my good friend Richie (1879 Miniatures).
Inside was the very first copy of his new project, a futuristic bust titled 'Herja'.
It was my pleasure to have collaborated with Richie on this piece, and an even bigger pleasure to review it.

Scale is 1/9th, and it comes in 4 separate pieces consisting of the main torso, head, left arm and visor.

My initial reaction on inspecting the various pieces was simply one of wow!
Having painted quite a few 'futuristic' busts, I have to say that, in my personal opinion, this is equal to the best from the likes of Nuts Planet and others.
Inspection of the pieces revealed no discernible mould lines, and just the usual casting lugs to be removed as per the usual with most others on the market today.
I will let the pictures do the talking and sum up at the end.....

    To sum up....
This bust has so much potential for the painter.
The detail is superb, with lots of textures for the painter to get to grips with, and the colour schemes are endless.
Casting is flawless, with minimal clean up before priming.
    Price will be £42 + p&p
All in all, a great first venture into the fantasy/sci fi genre for 1879 Miniatures, and it certainly deserves to do well for them.

Darn, when I saw this announced I wasn’t much into it..but seeing your parts layout and the quality...am quite taken...this is what I want to see in a review, for those of us who can’t see an actual copy and must nail order everything...I can immediately see the finesse of the piece, how it’s designed for assembly...NP really holds a high standard..

I should have mentioned in the review that the visor can be fixed in either the open or closed position.

Apologies for my neglecting to state that the option exists.

Have one held pending resolution of strikes or finding another carrier. I may simply be blind to any flaws, but sure looks to me that it even tops NP..and does offer many options to finish. A modern biker chick even

    Hi Ron

Thanks for the review and congratulations on the result

The bust is certainly a departure from the monkeys normal period !

I like the face and as you said it's got lots of potential for painters as well

What was the inspiration for the piece ?

    Thanks for sharing

    Hi Ron,
Thank you for the review mate(y). Don't worry mate I forgot to mention about the visor potential positions too:facepalm:
    cheers
    Richie

    Hi Nap,
I don't know what you mean.... it's a futuristic Zulu bounty hunter:rolleyes: well my version might be!

The inspiration for this piece is all Ron. I really admired Ron's previous futuristic projects and knowing he had just recently retired I was looking for a retirement gift for him. I could not find anything that said WOW until I stumbled across this whilst searching. I initially tried to buy a one off printed copy for Ron but could not as the person I bought this off did not have any printing capabilities.
So I said sod it......and bought the files & rights and put it into production.
    cheers

Nap I could have done this one but I thought it would not fit with Ron's Martina and Chief Lam

I'm not too much into futuristic,... but this does look like a very nice sculpt....Options wide open for choice of weapon....Or maybe a Tesla globe

I believe this piece will tempt quite a few people who don't normally do 'futuristic'....simply because it has so many options to explore in the painting....and is not overly sci fi in looks.
I have begun planning a weapon for my piece already :sneaky:
