Hello, here is one thing I believe every Painter should do once on is live - a Monochromatic Painting .

As been a while that I intended to do this so, I took this (wonderfull) figure from the TOMMY´s WAR range, and I can say it was quite a surprise !! the figure is outstanding so simple but so nice to paint.
I had a lot o fun doing it , just sorry that the pictures don´t show half of the work in .
    Cheers

    Hi Paulo

Fine artwork there on a high quality figure , like the presentation as well

    Canadian Infantry I think

If I may I think there should be medal ribbons above his left pocket ?,

    Thanks for sharing

    Nicely painted piece.

I would disagree with the term 'Monochromatic' though...as this requires the use of a single 'hue'....with tints achieved by using white...and shades by using grey or black.

Thanks , as I said I had a lot of fun painting and was a nice surprise for the quality and details.

Yes it is Canadian Infantary, but actually I choose him for the pose, as I inted the more flat and neutral possible, so I can make the "study" of colour value, as I said there is a lot of washes and filters in colours like red - blue-green - violet to give variety and richess to the uniform that the camera don´t catch .
Over the left pocket are medal ribons. you´re right !
As for the groundwork, I just want to put him on the war scenary, but without taking his protagonism, so he stills the center of atentions, something simple .

Hi Ron, I wanderstand what you mean, and yes you´re right !! However my sought was a an adaptation of that toour hobby , and on this case mostly the titlle should be "HOW TO TURN A TEDIOUS COLOUR UNIFORM INTERRESTING" would be more correct. Anyway I believe the ideia was to show that a one colour uniform don´t need to be borring, other wise can be correct historically, and you can play with light value, tourning him more inuterresting.

    Anyway thanks for the comments.

This is nicely presented and finished Paulo.
This has given me new perspective on this simple, standup figure.
Thanks for sharing & inspiration to revisit this little fellow which could become an ANZAC too.

    Fantastic work Paulo! Love it

I presented this figure as a Sergeant with medal ribbons as in 1914 98% of the Princess Patricia's Light Infantry were ex British armed forces. Indeed, they were so well trained they were the first Canadian infantry to be sent in-theatre and leap-frogged many British regiments.

As a Sergeant he would be what was referred to in the British army as 'an old India', ie a regular soldier with many years of service (often in India, hence the term).
