Although labelled as a Celt.....I have treated this as purely fantasy....and the colours used reflect that.
As with the 'Conan' bust...I have again used a muted/limited palette for atmosphere...with the metals and shield providing some colour splashes.

An excellent result. Some beautifully controlled painting.
Although a limited palette, when you look closely you can clearly see the subtleties of colour management.
This is evident in the cold skin tones but particularly in the work on what is an outstanding shield.

Many thanks for your comments Del :)

I am becoming more and more comfortable with working with a limited palette to suit each piece....and learning just how much further you can push transparent oils.
Biggest advantage so far is in the speed I can work each layer into the next...and how fewer layers give so many more colours compared with opaques.

    Cheers

Again lovely work, with your limited palette. The results are very impressive! Now remind me again, as to why your limiting your colour base? The methodology and application is clear, however are you not hamstringing yourself with these limitations?

Me, I would use everything I could get my paws on colour wise!

    Mark.
