just before my vacation I finished this excellent figure from Pegaso. It is a 75 mm figure what depicts a Scottish Gentleman from 1860 from the clan Mac Lachlan.. As usual everything is painted with oilpaint. Painting straight lines wasn't easy. Every comment is welcome.

Is there a reason why the tartan does not continue to the rear of the kilt?

Normally the folds of the kilt is such that the rear end of the kilt has the same pattern as the front end. The other option is easier to piant, as it looks there are only three bands across the entire surface (see https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/photo...tography&phrase=world pipe band championships)

Can't find the colors of the rear. It is in my opinion three black or three grey stripes.
As long as I cannot find any reverence I wouldn't do it.

The colours would be the same. Follow the horizontal pattern around the rear, and just put in some of the vertical lines as the pleats hide most of the pattern.

Excellent paint job,especially the dreaded tartan,which is spot on.

I used this for painting the Tartan. But as you can see not every tartan has the same pattern on the back.
That's why I didn't do it. The most of them have no vertical lines.
If you can help me to sort it out, I would be a happy person.
On the WWW I couldn't find the backside of the kilt. What I know is that D. Cartacci didn't paint a MacLachlan in opposit what the text into the box said.

Nice paint job Marc. Difficult tartan to paint. On the back the horizontal weave patterns always show. The vertical ones are mostely obstructed from view beacause of the pleats. They would hardly be visable if at all.

An example of how a military set (Mackenzie)runs at the back. What can be seen from the vertical pattern on the back of the kit depends on the set. Back & front

Nice job Marc. I am currently working on Pegaso's 20th anniversary figure of the Black Watch officer with the King's colour and it is giving me fits particularly the socks. They have already gone to the stripper once along with the flag as well. Thank God I had not painted the kilt before the socks.

I was going to ask if you'd got your eyes uncrossed, but it looks like you're back in again for the rear.
You've been given excellent pictures of kilts and the pleating, and the one from 'rossbach' is particulary good.
Here's Bill Horan's Highlander (from his Military Modelling Masterclass) which shows his application of that technique.
