I've been working on this 54mm EK Castings figure for the past few days between flat and aircraft projects.
It's a one piece casting and since I started painting I've found a couple of small areas that should really have had the attention of a needle file but nevermind you have to look closely. :D

Nice work Rog, been looking at a few E.K figures and was wondering if they were OK, was bit concerned because they are single cast, is the casting good ?

    Cheers

Thanks Steve. Yes, they're good castings. To clean this one up would have taken only a couple of minutes. There's a couple of seams which if I'd assembled it myself would have spotted, as it was I primed and got started. :D

You're welcome Steve. I don't think you'll be disappointed, pretty sure there's a few EK fans on here but I can't remember who at present. The figures have a nice heft to them and the detail is very crisp.

Looking good Roger(y) Eh........ shouldn't you be sitting behind a glass of Ouzo watching goats?

I miss those goats. My wife had an operation on her foot two weeks ago so holiday plans are on hold at the moment.

Steve I have many of them. The casting is good on most and on some really superb. It is not fair to name them all "single castings"for the most complicated ones come in more parts (shields with parts of arms attached etc) usually attached with weak glue and they come apart easily(if not a little paint remover does the job).Their quality to cost ratio is unbelievable but the fact that they come in one part and unboxed keeps most western modellers at bay.A real shame. My advice, should you decide to try them, is to contact their european branch, run by Daniele and Irina. They will be more than happy to oblige plus they ship from Belgium, using an european bank so you will not have to venture with russian banks(although I have been dealing with russian companies for years now and I have only the best things to say about their credibility and honesty yet I find that many people are a little reluctant to deal with them directly)

Tsipouro is more like it Paul!!!Known as arak in many parts of the Balkans.Always straight,no rocks and always ask for the variety without anise seed extract.Goes straight to your headand you can still taste the grapes that gave birth to it.

    Hi Roger

Very nice subject like the way you have done the gaiters and the white of the uniform ..the red makes a real nice contrast .

I haven't any of EK but hear lots good about them , subjects , casting ...looking good when painted ...thankfully they don't have busts !

Following this even with the inclusion of goats !

I am sure she will be ok and the Tsipouro & the goats will be waiting for you.

Consider your self lucky as far as the prospect of what you'll be drinking is concerned. I have to make do with locally produced Rakija (from the garden shed) that seems to be freely available all over the Balkans under different names and come in slight variations.

And it is always poured from recycled plastic lemonade bottles:D

Yes, I've sampled that myself. The guy also gave me some plums off his tree (the same plums that made the Raki I think). He didn't just gave me the plums but the whole branch they were growing on.
Had Raki in Crete from the plastic lemonade bottle too, my Raki making plan using plums from our trees was vetoed immediately the moment I mentioned it.
