    Hi Guys,

Wanted to post this, it’s my latest. Coming off my last Nappy, I thought I would paint another mounted kit. I also thought it would be easy. No such luck. I’ve loved this kit and decided to just knock it out and clear a project off of the bench. It’s painted in acrylics and oils.

I’ve got to go back and repaint the eyes and adjust and paint the reins after the rider is attached.

I was really quite surprised at how much modeling was involved in the assembly of this kit. Almost like building an Armor kit. Not for the faint of heart.

Welcome to the world of cavalry! In the complexity stakes, you must graduate to Historex. Light cavalry harness and saddlery is a whole new world!!

This is quite superb. My only small quibble is that photos of the time show the sword guard facing aft, not forward.

Looking really good Mike! I've got this figure in my grey army but haven't worked up the courage (or time) to start it. Really looking forward to see how you handle everything. I'm sure it will be amazing.

    Cheers,

    Thanks Bob!

you are correct they can be tough to work on but are rewarding when done.

Thanks Marc, I looked on the forum but could only find one other completed example and yours was one of them. I may not have searched well enough

Thanks Rodger! I wanted to be different, the few examples I've seen are all brown or black horses and and I wanted to create contrast with the rider. Almost went with a grey but decided against it.

Your right I do need to graduate to Histrorex, I have quite kits and pieces and parts but have yet to do one. Thanks!

Thanks Huw, a couple more weeks and I can call this one done.

    Thanks Mike!

Thanks! We will have to Chat with Darren at Tommy's War about that mistake. I only paint it!

Thanks Ken, You should really pull this one out and paint it. It's really not that bad. The horse required quite a bit of clean up. I had to be mindful about fit as I was assembling the kit. I really wanted to complete this kit prior to doing the other one with the Turk. Also the PE parts are quite delicate and require a good amount of fitting. One of my challenges with this kit is that I was completely unfamiliar with WW1 British cavalry and equipment and uniforms. A lot research was put in to ensure that I got the right colors.
