Hi to all, I have not posted a SBS for long time so here it goes. I add the text to each image to make easier following the steps, you also can download all the images, they are numbered so is easy to follow the order.
First of all I make the assembly of the figure, I assure all the parts with iron wire to get a strong fixation after glued. The feet are welded to the base, I use a small soldering iron.
I send figures to the whole world, so the assembly has to be shielded to withstand the effects of the trip.

Thank you very much Chris, Phil and Graham. I hope it´s helpful to know a different technique. Considering all the SBS I have seen here in PF so far, I guess everyone has his own method.

Very nice SBS Eduardo! Thanks a lot for sharing! Very useful.
Are you so kind to share the trousers palette? Thanks a lot!

Hi Zeno, here go the mixes for the pants and the vest. The violet is the color base I used, I added a bit of dark brown to the mix to get a not vivid violet and a bit of white, more of this last color for the highlights.
    I hope is helpful.

Hi Edorta great paintwork and coming along very nicely, can I ask are you mixing your colours on the back of a dish/plate rather than using a wet palette and if so how do you manage to get the paint onto the figure before it dries, you are also getting a nice matt finish with every colour and when I try to paint with acrylics I get some matt sections then a satin to gloss section, I have no control over this and the colours start to dry on the brush before you get them onto the figure, I dont know how you guys get the results with acrylics but they are amazing.

Hi Terry, thank you very much for your words. Right, I use a plate to make the mixes, always the same, when is full of paint I clean it easily with hot water and soap.

I don´t use a wet palette because I paint quite fast, and I put a great amount of paint into the dish, very diluted with water, if the mix gets dry, I make it again.

I always apply hot to the figure to dry it fast, for example a hair dryer, or put the figure under a lamp with a 100w incandescent bulb for a pair of minutes.

The "trick" to get smooth flat finishes is to add a little bit of Tamiya flat base varnish X-21,to the mixture, is difficult to handle because if you put too much into the mix, the colors turn to a white crust, usually is enough with two or three drops. I use the brush to put that varnish into the mixed color. The advantage of this varnish is that you can use any kind of acrylic paint from any producer, the finishes are always flat, and matte.

I think we all agree, that most of the products are sold as matte paint, in reality they are not so much.

A very important advice is that you do not have to give the next coat of paint until the previous one is completely dry, because if not, it turns to satin for sure.

Anyway, recently I discovered a wonderful product called AK Interactive Ultra matte varnish- 183. It is a transparent acrylic varnish, to give a fine hand over the paint, once the work is finished. If despite following these tips, the finish is satin, a fine hand of AK interactive leaves it completely matte.

Edorta thank you for taking the time to reply to my questions, you have given me great advice before an once again this information is very useful, I have been using the X-21 to give me matt finishes to my acrylic undercoats as I paint with oils and I recently bought some of the AK Ultra Matt varnish to try over the oils that have dried with a sheen although I have not tried it yet, I will certainly try your technique for acrylic painting when I get a chance. Keep up the great work and the SBS you guys are helping lots of us improve.

Hi Terry, I see you known al the products available, as you must know there are also matt varnishes for oils, but I am sure that the AK interactive will work well over oils too.
You can make a test over any surface( except paper or paperboard) with any color and when dry, add a fine coat of AK, you will see that really works.

Hi to all again, the figure is completed, I add some mud and wet vegetation to the ground and now is ready to put it over any kind of base.

    This tutorial is gold!
I agree with you! AK ultramat is gold! I prefer to use it directly at the end and forget about tamiya flat base.
    Saludos!
